Toolholding for the machine and cutting tool
Toolholding connects a cutting-tool shank to the machine spindle. Hydraulic expansion holders, collet chucks, heat-shrink holders and polygonal systems use different clamping methods. Select a holder and its associated components as a complete assembly, including any reducing sleeve, extension or adapter.
Start with the interfaces
Match the exact spindle interface and size to the machine, then match the holder’s clamping diameter to the cutting-tool shank. Check required projection, usable clamping length, workpiece clearance and coolant arrangement. A similar taper name or nominal diameter alone does not establish compatibility.
Compare run-out and balancing specifications with their stated test conditions. A holder, extension and sleeve can each affect the assembled system; use the manufacturer’s requirements for the selected articles rather than transferring a specification from another model.

Use Brand and Product type to narrow the published range. The current toolholding selection includes SCHUNK tool clamping products. Its dedicated collection provides a focused route to hydraulic, collet, heat-shrink and related systems.

Turning holders, boring bars and threading holders carry cutting inserts and are grouped with Cutting Tools. This keeps the machine-to-tool connection separate from the cutting system itself.

Frequently asked questions
What information identifies the correct toolholder?
Provide the machine spindle interface, holder designation, cutting-tool shank diameter, required projection and coolant requirements. Include an existing article number when replacing a holder or matching a sleeve.
Can reducing sleeves and extensions be mixed between systems?
Use only components documented for the selected holder and assembly. Check the exact interface, clamping range, insertion length and manufacturer instructions for each component.
Is every chuck a toolholding product?
No. A collet chuck that grips a cutting-tool shank is toolholding. A lathe chuck that grips the workpiece is workholding. Choose the category by what the component holds.

How do I confirm a replacement or request pricing?
Select the exact configuration and add it to your quote. Include the holder article, mating components and application requirements so Tech Tool can review the complete assembly.
