Separate external and internal turning requirements
For external turning, compare the CCGT insert size, corner radius, chip-control geometry and grade. For a small bore, start with the minimum bore requirement, cutting geometry, reach and MBS holder interface.
Compare light-machining and finishing geometries
CCGT-LFS is the light-machining family in this range; CCGT-FFS is the finish-machining family. Choose cutting conditions and grade for the workpiece and cut. A smaller corner radius alone does not establish the best surface finish for a given setup.
Confirm the holder and machine interface
Check the exact insert-to-holder association as well as holder shank dimensions and machine clearance. For internal machining, use the selected MBS tool and holder references rather than assuming every MBS configuration shares an interface.
Frequently asked questions
Are all CCGT inserts interchangeable?
No. The reviewed range includes different insert sizes and geometries. Confirm the exact insert material number against the holder seat and manufacturer compatibility information.
What information helps with a turning-tool quote?
Include the insert or MBS material number, quantity, workpiece material, feature dimensions, holder and machine details. Add finish or tolerance requirements when selection assistance is needed.
