The Oemeta MQL Series (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) represents the pinnacle of sustainable machining. Unlike "flood" coolants that drench the part, MQL uses a precise, atomized mist of High-Performance Esters to lubricate the cutting edge directly. Manufactured in Salt Lake City, Utah, these advanced fluids are engineered to be consumed completely during the cut, leaving you with dry chips, clean parts, and zero disposal costs.
The MQL platform is the choice for high-volume automotive and aerospace lines where coolant waste and wet chips are unacceptable.
The Problem: Flood coolant systems require massive sumps (50–300 gallons) that eventually go bad and must be pumped out, hauled away, and treated—a huge operational expense. The MQL Solution: Oemeta MQL is a "Total Loss" System. The fluid is applied in microscopic amounts (ml/hour) and is largely vaporized by the heat of the cut. There is no sump to maintain, no bacteria to kill, and no fluid to dispose of.
The Problem: Recyclers pay less for chips soaked in coolant (which requires centrifuging) and penalize you for the weight of the water. The MQL Solution: Because MQL lubricates only the cut interface, your chips fall into the bin Dry. Dry chips command a premium price at the scrap yard and eliminate the environmental liability of leaking chip hoppers.
The Problem: In milling carbide, the cycle of heating (cutting) and rapid cooling (flood coolant) causes "micro-cracks" in the insert, leading to premature failure. The MQL Solution: MQL provides Lubricity without Quenching. It reduces friction heat significantly but allows the tool to maintain a steady temperature, preventing thermal shock and often extending carbide life by 20–30% in steel and aluminum applications.
Not all MQL fluids are created equal.
Many generic MQL fluids are simple fatty alcohols that evaporate instantly. Oemeta MQL fluids are based on Synthetic Esters with high flash points.
Benefit: They stay on the tool longer during the cut, providing superior protection for deep-hole drilling and heavy tapping where lighter fluids would burn off too fast.
Oemeta MQL is designed to leave minimal to no residue. Any remaining film on the part is an oxidation-resistant ester that acts as a short-term rust preventive, often allowing parts to go straight to assembly or welding without a wash cycle.

MQL requires specialized delivery systems.
A: Only if it is retrofitted. You cannot simply put MQL fluid in a flood coolant tank. It requires a specific Micro-Dosing System that mixes air and oil. However, many modern CNCs come "MQL Ready" or can be easily retrofitted with an external nozzle system.
A: It depends on the operation.
A: If set correctly, no. Oemeta MQL esters have a high flash point to prevent smoking. If you see smoke, your flow rate is likely too high (wasting fluid) or your feed rate is generating excessive heat.
