WIDIA VariDrill selection and configuration guide
Compare VariDrill solid carbide drills by diameter, depth configuration and coolant arrangement. Define the workpiece, hole tolerance, depth and machine setup before selecting a material number.
Compare the configuration dimensions
Review configurations with and without internal coolant separately. Confirm what the machine and holder can supply, and compare cutting depth, overall length and shank dimensions. Do not assume a drill with a similar appearance has the same coolant capability.
Check the setup and technical references
Use the applicable manufacturer guidance for the selected drill and workpiece. Entry geometry, chip evacuation, coolant delivery and rigidity affect the result; a depth ratio or nominal diameter does not establish a universal operating cycle.
Keep the selected tool connected to its data
Choose the required inch or metric listing and select the configuration on its product page. Read dimensions from that exact material-number row, and use the manufacturer drawing to interpret the reference symbols. Representative family images and unscaled schematics do not establish every feature of an individual configuration.
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose an internal-coolant version without through-tool coolant?
Confirm the selected drill’s operating requirements and your machine’s coolant capability before ordering. Do not assume that one configuration can be used under another configuration’s coolant conditions.
What should I include in a WIDIA VariDrill quote request?
Send the exact material number, quantity and required date. For application review, include workpiece material and hardness, operation, required dimensions, machine, holder and coolant details. Tech Tool confirms current pricing, availability and shipping before an order.
