Technical Specifications

Advantages

  • Optimized for Top-Offs: Provides superior resolution in the 1% to 3% range, making it perfect for daily coolant replenishment where a "lean" mix is required to balance out evaporation.
  • Prevent "Rich" Sumps: Using a dedicated .5–5% mixer for top-offs prevents operators from accidentally adding high-concentration fluid to an already rich sump, saving significant concentrate costs.
  • Pressure Independent: The volumetric piston engine ensures the mix ratio remains constant regardless of flow rate or pressure drops in the facility water lines.
  • Easy Adjustability: Features a simple external dial to quickly change settings from .5% (for light top-off) up to 5% (for standard machining fills or washing detergents).

Technical Overview

  • Model: D14MZ5 (Standard Makeup/Top-Off Model)
  • Dosing Range: 0.5% – 5% (1:200 – 1:20)
  • Flow Rate: 0.05 to 14 GPM (Gallons Per Minute)
  • Operating Pressure: 4.3 – 85 PSI
  • Housing: Chemical-Resistant Polypropylene
  • Connection: 3/4" NPT
  • Adjustment: External Tool-Free Dial

The Evaporation Problem
In CNC machining, water evaporates due to heat and agitation, but the coolant concentrate remains in the sump. If you top off with a standard 7–10% mix, your concentration will spike (often to 15%+), wasting money and causing dermatitis.

The .5–5% Solution
This mixer is specifically geared to deliver the Lean Makeup Fluid (usually 1–3%) needed to bring the liquid level back up while keeping the total concentration steady at the target (e.g., 7%). It is the primary tool for cost-control in large central systems.

Applications

  • Coolant "Makeup" / Top-Off Carts
  • Central System Replenishment (Lean Mix)
  • Parts Washing (Detergents <5%)
  • Light-Duty Machining Fluid Mixing
  • Vibratory Finishing Compounds
